LEISURELY LAKESIDE BIRDING

After travelling south through NSW during the last half of 2012 we crossed into Victoria and stayed in Rutherglen, a lovely historic town just over the border. Our site in the van park overlooked a small lake where we were able to sit back and watch the passing parade.

The dotterels were a pair that spent some time courting along the shoreline.

Some of the local feral ducks cruised around on the lookout for a feed.

And so too a couple of Common Starlings.

This Magpie-lark was also active looking for small prey along the lakes edge.

Meanwhile overhead a Friarbird was inspecting and trying out a Magpie-larks nest!

Cheers & Happy Birding!
